Why Is My uPVC Window Restrictor Stuck or Broken?
For a uPVC window fitted with a child-safety or opening restrictor that will not release normally, will not engage, is bent or has become detached.
What this usually means
Window restrictors are safety hardware, so a failed one should not be bypassed or left unreliable where fall protection matters. First identify whether yours is a releasable restrictor, cable type or integrated hinge device and use only its normal release method. Check for visible dirt, a bent arm, loose fixing or damaged cable without removing safety-critical hardware. If it will not engage securely or the window can now open farther than intended, keep the opening supervised and have the correct restrictor repaired or replaced.
What may be causing this
The restrictor release mechanism is jammed with dirt or wear
