Why Does My Boiler Pressure Rise When the Heating Is On?

The system was overfilled when cold
Clues: Cold pressure already starts above the boiler's recommended range before the heating is switched on.

The filling loop is not fully closed or is passing water
Clues: Pressure continues creeping upward even when the system is cold or after the heating has stopped.
What to do: Confirm any user-operated filling-loop valves are fully closed. A valve that still passes water needs repair rather than repeated pressure release.
Pressure-relief valve has discharged after pressure rose too high
Clues: The external relief/discharge pipe becomes wet or drips and the system may later lose pressure when it cools.
What to do: Do not cap or block the discharge. Arrange professional diagnosis because a pressure-control fault may have triggered the valve.
